WOYWW and Image Transfers

I do hope Mrs Dunnit, WOYWW Headmistress, doesn't give me detention for being absent for two weeks. Please Miss I couldn't help it! I've been down to Brighton to visit my curly girlies, alias the Brighton Belels, alias two of my grandees.
Back again just in time to attend Vicky Stampers last Saturday where Lynne gave us a super workshop and we had good fun this month improving our skills transferring images on to fabric. We then used our examples to make a book which also incorporated some stamping. Lots of inky mess, especially for me as I decided to colour my calico shades of pink, orange and red.
I've been using the breakfast table to finish it off with beads and ribbons and some free embroidery. It's such a lovely spot to sit, especially as I can also watch all the visiting birds.
On the table there are also remnants of the card I made for my little fraulein's 4th birthday, next week. I hope she has a very special day.
The Brighton Belles will be visiting Germany with their parents just in time for the birthday party so I hope they all they all enjoy this rare opportunity to have lots of fun together.
Looking through the window into the garden, I realise that I have another "workdesk" waiting for me  on the patio as there are several perennials, that we bought on our travels, all waiting to be planted but we've had so much rain so it has been impossible to get out there.
If you would appreciate a snoop on many, more desks just get over to Julia, the Headmistress of WOYWW, for the complete register of all those present this week.
That's my desk for this week but browse on if you have time and would like to see the results of the image transfer workshop.

Recently Donna gave me fabric print which was just perfect to add as an extra  couple of pages in my book.
I will possibly add more hand embroidery when I've had a good think about it.
On Sunday we visited the Knowsley Flower Show and I just had to include these photos of the Mersey Morris Men performing traditional dances and they are especially for WOYWWer Lynne of Textile Treasury blog who is a part of the Norfolk Morris scene.(Spot the Liver Birds on their sashes Lynne!)
It was amazing seeing them throwing the sticks in the air, knocking them, swapping them and catching them. All good fun and so clever.
I think this dance was "Jenny Wren"
It is good that English traditions are being kept alive.
Despite the show being in the heart of the city, Knowsley is close to rural areas so it was a proper flower show and the entries were excellent.

One of my favourites, Sweet Peas, ... I adore their fragrance.
After being AWOL for a couple of weeks I hope to get round lots of your desks this week.
If you've time... pop over to see what's the latest exciting news on LillyBo Quilts too!

What fun photos you shared this week. I LOVE the fabric journal. Just BEAUTIFUL!!! I love all the flowers (too bad we don't have smell-a-vision, or at least a scratch n' sniff), and the pics of the Morris Men, looks like it was just good ole' fashioned fun. And what a great view from your desk. Happy Hump Day!!! (((HUGS)))

Hi Jo! Yes, I´m back in WOYWW - although not being at home next two Wednesdays... my DH has his summer holidays.
Your garden looks SO beautiful! And so does your book.
We here have the 2nd birthday next Friday - the party is on Sunday. How fast the time has gone...

Happy Wednesday!

What a beautiful place to sit and work. Your garden looks a perfect haven for the birds.
I am not sure how I feel about your book. I have read a lot about the image transfer techniques, and I love the bright colours. It is not rally my style, not something I am likely to do anyway, but fascinating all the same.
I love the flowers. My dad grew lots of phlox and we used to pull off the flowers to drink the nectar at the base of each one! The Morris men are always fun to watch. They would enjoy it out here. Spanish men love to dress up and dance! I love all traditions, British and Spanish.
Thanks for your visit. Kate x #56

I think there's something oddly sexy about blokes dancing like that..harking back to proper pagan times! Love the fabric book pages, such vibrant colours and textures. And haven't you got a pretty garden! Love all the trees :-)

Love your fabric book Jo. Maybe when I get back I can get something done that I want to do instead of meeting deadlines all the time.
Great pictures of the garden. Enjoy whilst the weather is good.

Late to bed again Jo ? I'm not surprised you have been so busy. Lovely colourful vibrant book it matches the summery colours on the garden. The trouble with rain apart from the obvious is that it makes everything grow so much quicker. Good luck with the planting

What gorgeous photos, Jo. Your little fabric book is exquisite, and the fabric transfers have certainly worked very well. What a beautiful garden you have, too. The Morris dancing photos are amazing - brilliant to catch the sticks in mid-air! I used to go out with a chap who did Morris Dancing with his dad, and it was fascinating. I agree that we should keep our country traditions going. People always laugh at Morris Dancing but I think it's fun!

Happy WOYWW,

Jo, gorgeous photos, thank you for an awesome post! That book is beautiful--little books are one of my favorite things ever. And I always enjoy it so much when people post pics of their gardens and local things, or their holidays--it's part of the woyww fun, I suppose.

A Happy WOYWW to you, Jo,

So you made me want to see some Mersey Morris Men in action--there are plenty of youtube videos, not of this particular occasion, but enough to give those of us who have never seen them a glimpse!

Hi Jo, glad you had such a lovely time. The flower show looks delightful, I love to see the 'olde English' traditions kept alive. I should be getting my quilt finally finished this week! I managed to give myself a 'trigger thumb' using secateurs in the garden- I can't believe how awkward things are when you can't bend your thumb! Its on the mend now though, so heres hoping. Have a great week, Hugs Shaz #48 xx

Thanks for your sweet comment, Jo. I'm feeling fine from the cystitis today but totally wiped out otherwise - not surprising really, so I'm resting today before going over to the new house again tomorrow. So glad you like my new ARTHaven! I keep pinching myself to see if I'm awake and it's real - I still find it hard to believe that I've got such a beautiful space to be creative in!

playing catch-up is no easy task, but I adore your transfer book. I've made transfers, but never onto fabric. You did a fantastic job. And the color red is perfect, too.

I love tradition and history, so seeing these reenactments are superb. Glad you took us along.

So much to see on your blog and it all so beautiful!! I just love WOYWW. First off, your transfer book is so cool. I love vibrant colors and your bits and bobs are a great addition to the lovely images. Trust me if I had a table that overlooked that terrace garden I would work there all time!! So lush and gorgeous. And the pictures you've taken in this post and of the lavender are just gorgeous. I love sweet peas...they are probably my favorite scent. Seems you have a lovely and full life...that makes even a stranger smile. Happy to have met you...tee hee.

Oh Wow, love this post Jo. Yes those Morris Men look the Biz! I love the whole thing about Molly and Morris and just wish it was more in the mainstream of English knowledge, instead of being either ignored or made fun of.
Love your fabric book too, beautiful, I have some myself though haven't worked on any for years.

And yes, sweet peas - beautiful, my faves! Lx
